In March 2021, I joined the GBernardes group at the iMM in Lisbon to investigate and develop small molecule drugs for cancer therapy as part of a multidisciplinary team. I also collaborate in a project that aims to study new therapeutic approaches against SARS-CoV-2.

I obtained my MSc degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Coimbra in 2014 and, in 2020, I completed a PhD in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine at the same University. During my PhD, I spent 3 years at the Czech Academy of Sciences, where I investigated mitochondrial metabolism in cancer, mostly focused on mitochondrial trafficking between mammalian cells and cancer targeted therapies. In 2018, supported by FLAD Healthcare 2020 and as a visiting PhD student, I received scientific training in the Pinchas Cohen Lab at the University of Southern California, US.

Areas of expertise:
Cancer biology, cellular and molecular biology, mitochondria, metabolism and targeted therapies
