ABOUT MARTA
Dr Marta Marques
FCT Postdoctoral Researcher
E-mail: martamarques@medicina.ulisboa.pt
I am a FCT-MES (PT) Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the GBernardes Lab, at Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM), in Lisbon. I bring my skills in big-picture thinking, molecular biology and structural biology to bear on some of the large-scale projects being performed in the lab.
In addition to bench work, I mentor undergraduate and PhD students, and supervised MSc students. I have actively sought collaborations with academic groups and companies and I have been a member of several FCT Research Projects, (as co-PI -Intracellular Drug Delivery using Small Molecule Drug Conjugates for Prostate Cancer Therapy and PI- Drug delivery of bioactive agents through selective decaging, TzDD).
I have given numerous presentations and invited lectures at national and international conferences and I was awarded with the Portuguese Young Biophysicist Prize in 2018. My work with the GBernardes group has increased my interest in drug discovery and development and I am always looking to increase my skills and expertise in this field and become a cross-functional scientist. I aspire to make a great impact at IMM and in the field of targeted therapy, especially for cancer treatment.
Areas of expertise:
Molecular and cell biology, protein isolation and purification, spectroscopic techniques (EPR, UV-VIS, fluorescence and circular dichroism) and structural biology (X-ray)
